Since 2003, the State General Administration of Sports listed E-sports as the ninety-ninth sports competition item, after 15 years, E-sports has made rapid progress, especially in Colleges and universities, the momentum of development is rapid. According to relevant statistics, at present, more than 65% of the students in Colleges and universities participate in e-sports activities, which has become one of the most popular sports projects in Colleges and universities.

About the Federation
The Asia-Pacific Youth Competition Federation was founded in 2016. In the embryonic stage of its establishment, it held two years of related games and competitions in universities. In the process of continuous exploration, it has established a lot of cooperation with universities. Since its founding, the Federation has been committed to the combination of electronic competition and universities. In the sub-market of electronic competition in Colleges and universities, the overall scope of the events covered the whole country. It also has the exclusive right to organize the events in 985/211 universities in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and other places. Among them, Tencent Department’s games include “Hero Alliance”, “Crossing the Fire Line”, “Fifa”, “King’s Glory” and “Call of Duty Online”. Among them, LCL University Competition covers more than 40 universities in Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu. Eastern Sports: How did the Asia Pacific Youth Competition Federation come into being?
Lu Jidong: At first, there was this idea between Tongji University and Hong Kong University. E-sport has developed rapidly all over the world, and its audience among college students is very wide. It is urgent for this industry to build an E-sport education system to input fresh blood into the soil of competition and to establish the image of youth and sunshine. Please. Several other colleges and universities have the same idea. Although the development momentum of e-Competition is good, there is still a concept that e-Competition is equal to playing games. At this time, if some well-known colleges and universities can form an organization, it will greatly help to change the views of society on e-competition. The more famous universities are launched, the better they will be.
Orient Sports: how does the Federation look at the competition in Colleges and universities?
Lv Jidong: First of all, after entering the Internet era, E-sports is a very good economic growth point. Besides, as a kind of culture, it enriches the amateur life of teenagers. Moreover, E-sports is now a sport recognized by the state. It is not only possible to enter Asia, but also possible to enter the Olympics in the future. Indeed, guide and promote this project, after all, it is competitive sports, to get medals and good ranking is very important.
This is why after Tongji University and the University of Hong Kong put forward the idea of the federation, the top universities in China, such as Peking University and Tsinghua University, immediately participated in the training of competitive talents. The Asian-Pacific Youth Competition Federation hopes to play an active guiding role in this regard.
Eastern Sports: what role did the Federation play since its establishment two years ago?
Lv Jidong: first of all, it is a normative function. For example, in conjunction with Penguin Competition, the Shanghai Theatre Academy has conducted a host training course with good social effects. The anchor can be said to be a very important link in the competition, but in the past, it has not paid special attention to this group, and the quality of broadcasting also needs to be improved.
This is only one aspect. In recent years, more and more competitions have entered colleges and universities, and the scale of the competitions has become larger and larger. For example, the QGC professional competitions have been settled in universities through the Federation, and the QGC winter finals are also being held in the experimental theatre of Shanghai Theatre Academy. As we have always said, college students are the most enthusiastic group in the e-sports industry, with 70% of the e-sports fans, which is far higher than other sports, so the competition into school, for college students, and even the surrounding audience, is very influential.
At present, the whole electronic competition market is developing rapidly among teenagers, ideological change is necessary, or to emphasize that electronic competition is not just a game. It is a team work, a sport involving both mind and body, and a test of the volition and team spirit of the participants. These are all aspects that our Federation should further strengthen the promotion and propaganda. Starting from the school, let the whole society have a new understanding of the competition and the competitors.
Orient Sports: what is the future direction of the Federation?
Lv Jidong: There are three main points. Firstly, in terms of competitions, besides continuing to serve major manufacturers and carrying out in-depth competitions in universities, they will also actively participate in the development of IP for well-known competitions and the excavation of pan-entertainment value. At the same time, as the broadest market of electronic competition users, colleges and universities naturally have the basis for professional events to settle down. We will actively introduce various professional events to be held in Colleges and universities.
In terms of business development, we should continue to serve major brands, meet the needs of businesses to conduct business activities in Colleges and universities in combination with electrical competitions, and provide professional services. In the field of education, various member units of the Council carry out courses such as master’s degree, undergraduate course and adult education in order to help Guangzhou university students who are willing to engage in the cause of electronic competition in employment and entrepreneurship.
