Recently, The Player’s Lobby published C9-assisted Zeyzal’s essay Learning to Lead. The main idea is as follows.
Since I was impressed, I am the leader in the game. I’m not sure whether it’s my personality or because we can win the game in the simplest way, but it happened naturally.
I grew up in Ohio and played the League of heroes for entertainment. To be honest, because I was addicted to games and developed bad sleeping habits, I did poorly in school.
I continued to score points, and at the age of 15, I was in the strongest position for the first time. But outside of the game, I didn’t grow.
I am not going to embark on the career path. This is not an exciting goal for me. But I found myself continuing to improve and becoming the first generation player in C9, when my teammates were Deftly, Damonte, Grig and Licorice.
I remember that I was unbeaten with the team in all the training matches in a month, and we didn’t even lose a game. We have training matches with other low-level teams, even though we are very good, because C9 had a team that participated in the Challenger League at that time, we could not enter the Challenger League.
Despite these obstacles, we still keep training, and every day we can play 6-0 in training matches.
In hindsight, we never learned how to compete with a team. But at least we enjoyed a lot of fun.
When we had been training together for about two months, we waited until there was a vacancy in the challenger league, but we were told that the fist authorities had made a decision to ban a team from having a registered Challenger league team before having another challenger League team.
After hearing the news, Jack dismissed the idea of allowing us to enter the Challenger League. Licorice, Deftly and I moved to eUnited, Damonte and Grig to Delta Fox.
In eUnited, I actually started to have a deep understanding of games.
During my time at eUnited, my biggest promotion was that I learned what I should do as an assistant player at different points in the game.
In particular, GMB (SUP is now in contact with other teams), he is very picky. If he thinks I haven’t done anything well, he will emphasize to me when the video is replayed. Because he has always believed that the auxiliary position is one of the most important positions for the team to succeed.
GMB believes that as an assistant, you must be in the right place at the right time, otherwise your team will not be able to expand its advantage.
I am very grateful to him and to those days, because those are almost the most important things I have learned in my career, which is the most important factor in my progress.
EUnited did not get permission from NA LCS at last. It didn’t matter to me because I was told that even if they were granted access, I wasn’t part of their future plans.
Once again, I need a new team. I am looking for a team of LCS or two teams. I am lucky that I have the opportunity to choose between them.
Although I have many choices, I chose C9 two. It is a comfort for me because I have the experience of serving this team.
My decision was finally rewarded. C9 gives me the chance to lead the team and give me some decision in choosing the other players in the second team. I know they already have Goldenglue. He’s really great and I’m happy to play with Wiggily.
I immediately saw the potential of the C9 two team.
At first, the team did not give priority to forming a strong second team, but after discussing with Jack, they realized that it was not a bad idea after all. They asked me which players they should sign and I’m very satisfied with my choice today.
Everyone in C9 has helped me in some way.
Keith taught me a lot in my first season, especially how to put pressure on the line and how to command the team.
I learned a lot from watching Smoothie play and he will give me valuable advice to help me become a better player.
Of course, Reapered’s influence on me should not be underestimated.
I am confident that I can help my team. Of course, I still have some shortcomings.
I’m glad to have Sneaky and Jensen around when I’m not experienced. Similarly, Licorice has adapted to the rhythm of LCS in the past year.
We are a dynamic team. I think I have the space to make mistakes. This is very important. Because I try to position myself as a leader. This is what I have been trying to do in my career.
I am grateful to be part of C9. They not only pay a lot of help to improve the team, but also take time to take care of the rookie in the team.
I appreciate the sacrifices they made earlier this year.
They could have relied on veterans to take different paths, but instead, they decided to start rebuilding through two rookies. I don’t think other teams in NA LCS will adopt this approach.
My goal is to repay the trust of the team and lead the team well. I hope to be an excellent teammate, through clear team goals, to maintain good communication between players, and to make everyone step by step.
I hope to be the leader of C9 in the foreseeable future.
